Esha’s ‘Cakewalk’ Premieres To Standing Ovation!

Esha Deol Takhtani’s short feature film ‘Cakewalk’, directed by eminent journalist Ram Kamal Mukherjee, got a standing ovation from the select celebrity invitees, reviewers and friends who attended the premiere held at Worli on Sunday!
The film is produced by the trio of Dinesh Gupta, Shailendra Kumar and Aritra Das under the banner of Assorted Motion Pictures and SS1 Entertainments. Apart from Takhtani, the film stars Tarun Malhotra and Anindita Bose. “I am glad I signed the film right after Radhya was born and now it’s releasing even as I am expecting my second baby,” Esha Deol said. She was accompanied by her husband Bharat and his family for the premiere.
Esha’s mother and yesteryears ‘Dream-girl’ Hema Malini and sister Ahana Deol Vohra (who came in along with her husband Vaibhav) were the cynosure of all eyes at the film screening. This is Esha’s first foray into new age digital medium. The screening was preceded by tributes paid to the brave martyrs of the Pulwama attack by terrorists. The entire cast and crew observed a minutes silence before the screening.
“It’s a beautiful film, short and sweet. I have known Ram Kamal as a journalist, but all credit goes to my daughter Esha for introducing him as a filmmaker. I am very happy for Esha and Ram Kamal” Hema Malini said.
Esha Deol told media persons that the film would especially connect with women journalists, as it dwells on women’s empowerment and carving out an identity by women homemakers post marriage!
The celebrities present also included Riteish Deshmukh, Vidya Balan, Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Sanjay ‘Dhoon’ Gadhvi, Soham Shah, Raj Nayak, Nikhil Dwivedi, Madhoo, Chef Cheenu and Sudhanshu Pandey. Many senior journalists and editors graced the occasion in support of former journalist and award winning author.
Earlier, to go along with the thematic crux of the film, Hema Malini & Esha Deol cut a cake in the midst of cheers from the song, ‘Life is not a Cakewalk’ which is composed by Shailendra Sayanti and rendered by Rupali Jagga.”
