A Brush with Death
The light that never was by land and sea,’ says the Bible. Yes, I believe I may
have had a glimpse of that light. How come? On 21 April, I had a brain stroke.
It was sudden and had I not reached Avron Hospital right on the dot and been
under the supervision and care of Dr Ranka I would have been in the next
world.
The light I saw was pure white, but not dazzling and overpowering. Also
it was translucent, that is, one could see through it. Now comes the strange
part which I cannot explain. This light was within me. Also it was by my side.
And lastly, the light could be seen for miles and miles, or so it seemed.
I openly admit that I did not see any light in the tunnel nor the bridge
which people who are about to die see. Nor did I cross the stream. Most
people claim to see their own bodies. Well, though I am an astrologer and a
psychic, I did not see it at all. I can only tell you about what I actually saw.
There were fairies attending upon me. They said, ‘He is so cute. But he
shouts and acts like a child. It seems that men are hopeless at bearing pain and
that men use their egos as an armour against the slings and arrows of fate.’
They seemed to laugh at me but not mock me. Though I was strictly on the
ventilator for two days, I feel I remonstrated against their remark that all men
were children and couldn’t bear pain. But I am not sure of it.
