“After appealing to Chief ministers & political parties of all States & celebrities of Bollywood & Cricket, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) today write a communication to Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani, and 50 other Industrialist of India asking for their support to its “”boycott Chinese goods”” campaign titling “”Bhartiya Saamaan – Hamara Abhiman””.”
“Besides Ambani, the CAIT has sought support from Narayanmoorthy, Azim Premji, Gautam Adani, Sdi Gofrrj Ajay Piramal, Kumar Manglam Birla, Vikram Kirloskar, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Rahul Bajaj, Anand Mahendra, Shiv Nadar, Pallonji Mistry, Uday Kotak, Nusli Wadia, Shashi Ruia, Madhukar Parekh, Harsh Mariwala, Dr. Satish Reddy, Pankaj Patel, Nilesh Gupta, etc.”
“CAIT National President B. C. Bhartia & Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal in communication to Tata, Ambani and other Industrialists said that being a successful entrepreneur and one of the captains of Indian Industry, the CAIT has invited the group of Industrialists to join the movement as a valued partner and sought their support for such mass movement which has the making of a game-changing initiative that has the potential to reshape India’s journey as a global superpower by reducing China’s dominance.”
“Both said that India import four categories of products from China i.e. finished goods, raw material, spare parts for the assembly of goods in India and technology-driven products and the CAIT has decided to boycott Chinese Goods in a phased manner and for the first phase it has earmarked “” finished goods”” from an identified list of about 450 broad categories of products which nearly has more than 3000 products and those products are already been manufactured in India. They further said the first phase of the national campaign of CAIT was launched on 10th June 2020 and will continue up to December 2021. In the meantime, it will be pursuing the Government to draw a comprehensive strategy to facilitate Indian Industry, Small Industry, Entrepreneurs, Startups, and others to evolve and manufacture goods in India pertaining to raw material, spare parts & technology-driven goods, which are currently being imported from China.”
“Bhartia & Khandelwal said that there is a myth in some of the sections that India can’t do it which poses a challenge for traders of India. They firmly stated that trade & commerce in the Country can do it, the people of India can do it. They quoted the example of creating a mass infrastructure for producing goods to fight with COVID & said that when under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we can produce more than sufficient quantities of PPE Kits, Ventilators, Masks & other items related to COVID-19 in a very short span of two months, then why can’t we do it. They opined that a firm resolve by all sections of the economy and people of India is required and the trading community has taken the initiative on its shoulders coupled with a diagonal change in purchasing behavior of the consumers of India which now prefers Indian goods in place of Chinese goods and that lays the strong foundation of our campaign “”Bharatiya Saamaan-Hamara Abhiman””.”
