In Indian astrology, there is a verse in the Jatak Parijat that assigns nine gems to the nine planets which are as follows:
• Ruby is the gemstone for the Lord of the Day (the Sun),
• Glowing pearl is the gemstone for the cool Moon,
• Red coral is the gemstone for fiery Mars,
• Emerald is the gemstone for the noble Mercury,
• Yellow sapphire is the gemstone for Jupiter, the teacher of gods,
• Diamond is the gemstone for Venus, the teacher of demons,
• Blue sapphire is the gemstone for Saturn,
• Hessonite is the gemstone for Rahu, and
• Cat’s eye is the gemstone for Ketu.
