“Thousands of Ganesh idols were immersed after offering prayers to the elephant headed god for one and half days, at number of immersion sites, including natural immersion sites, artificial tanks set up by the BMC in Mumbai on Sunday.”
“The BMC has identified nearly 300 immersion locations where Mumbai residents can go for Ganesh idol immersion. As per the corona virus protocols, to ensure physical distancing, safety and convenience, not more than five persons are allowed with the idol and the processions are banned. These guidelines are expected to continue till Anant Chaturdashi.”
“Every year, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi witnesses lakhs of devotees gathering at coastal areas of Mumbai for Ganesh idol immersion. However the festival is being celebrated in subdued atmosphere.”

“However a majority of the people preferred the artificial tanks to immerse the idols. The BMC and police staff was deployed at immersion locations. A steady stream of devotees was witnessed at the artificial tank located at Shri Swami Samarth Nagar, Andheri West.”
