“Dr Amarjit Singh R Manhas, Vice President of Mumbai Congress wrote a letter to Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray in this regard. In his letter he said that..”
“I had requested the Government of Maharashtra through my earlier letter to provide relief to all by providing FREE ELECTRICITY, FREE WATER and EXEMPTOIN FROM PAYING PROPERTY TAX etc. to all till the lockdown is completely lifted. Also requested Finance Minister Government of India to provide relief to all loanees who have an EMI of either housing, home, Car, Business or Education loan or Credit Card EMI.”
“The Corona virus (Covid 19) pandemic has imperilled lives and has put at risks the lives and livelihood of millions. The Nation is committed to fight and defeat the Corona Virus Pandemic. The steps taken by Government till now for the safety and security for the people of Maharashtra are highly commendable. The measures taken to provide ration and cooked food through various Shelter homes, community kitchen and Shiv Bhojan Centre has also provided a big relief to poor people and special the labourers working on daily wages who have been stranded in Metros.”
“President of Indian National Congress Smt. Sonia Gandhi ji is very much concerned and have requested all the Congress rules states to provide relief to all the sections of society specially to the weakest section on priority. Sir, now since we are in the 2nd Phase of the lockdown and have extended the lock down till 30th April which might be extended further, I would like to put forward some hardships faced by the people of Mumbai and request you to kindly consider it while announcing further relief in the coming days to people in Metros specially Mumbai.”
“The Government of Maharashtra should open more community kitchen and Shiv Bhojan Centres in each ward of Mumbai with the help of local Corporators and reputed NGO’s to ensure food is provided to each and every person who is in distress due to the lock down. Proper supply of food, groceries, vegetables and other essentials should be ensured for the areas and building which are sealed. Since all the shops, stores, factories, offices are closed due to lock down the income of the people from daily wages earners to the middle class families is literally zero for the Month of March and April, which could be extended further. they are hardly able to meet their daily expenses and are somehow managing to provide basic necessities to their families.”
“I request you kindly discuss the issue of EMI with the Government of India and provide a waiver of all kinds of EMI’s instead of moratorium for at least 3 months. With no income whatsoever for a month, people are facing difficulties to even recharge their mobile phones, cable and DTH services, which is the only medium to stay connected and to get updates during lockdown. Hence I once again request to issue directions to all the telecom companies and cable and DTH service providers to provide free services till the lockdown is lifted.”
Most of the residential buildings in Mumbai are using PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connections and many lower income families won’t be in a position to pay their PNG bills due to lockdown hence I request you issue directions to the Companies supplying PNG not to disconnect their connections till the lockdown is lifted. Further I request you to kindly include in the list of “ESSENTIAL SERVICES” the fitting and servicing of Plumbers and Electricians. Allow 1 shop dealing in housing electrical fitting parts to operate at least 3 days in a week in each locality. This will provide relief to people in metros at a large scale.
“One of the most important necessity today is availability of ambulance especially for people suffering from the symptoms of corona virus. There have been many cases in Mumbai where people have to wait for the ambulance for 2-3hours. It is noted that due to lockdown public transports are not available for people to go to hospitals and secondly travelling with a person suffering from corona virus to the hospital without PPE will get more people infected, hence day night service ambulances should arranged for people on a large scale and PPE kits should be given to the ambulance staff for their safety. I would also like to inform you that patients suffering from other illness are not getting proper treatment as many Doctors have stopped visiting their clinics and hospital OPD’s. It is causing a major inconvenient to people at large especially for children and senior citizens.”
“Due to the sudden lockdown many loaded trucks are stuck on the Highway and more than thousand of drivers are facing difficulties and are stranded without food and water. Hence we should allow these loaded trucks to unload their goods at their respective location and return back to their families. As a precautionary measure we can setup a screening and sanitization camps at the entry points of Mumbai to allow the drivers of the trucks to enter Mumbai after proper screening and sanitization. I would like to bring to your notice that apart from medical emergencies and medical supplies people have to step up in large nos. to buy Groceries, vegetables, Cooking oil, Soaps-Detergents and other essentials. These should be arranged through online orders and Companies like D-Mart, Big Bazar, Reliance Mart, Grofers, Big Basket, Amazon, Flipkart should be instructed to provide services for the above mentioned products at least in Metros.”
“Since public transport are not working people who have to travel in case of emergencies are facing difficulties, hence, to ease the problem of the people at least OLA and Uber should be allowed to operate with strict guidelines. I am sure you will take all the necessary measures that will help us to address the massive health crisis we are facing and to ameliorate the immense economic and existential pain that vulnerable sections of our society are going through.”
