“The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), apex body of the trading community while taking a cognisance of various concerns that have been cropped up about availability of commodities including essential goods in Delhi in view of the protest of farmers, assured that the traders of Delhi will make all efforts to ensure that there should not be any scarcity of medicines and goods in Delhi.”
“To ensure the smooth supplies, the CAIT has held talks with Pradeep Singhal, Chairman, All India Transport Welfare Association (AITWA) and other members of AITWA, which has assured that transportation of goods will be maintained smoothly as far as possible. However, the CAIT has expressed hope that talks between the Government and the farmers will come out with some positive results. “”We have all sympathies with farmers of the Country and wish that their issues are resolved at the earliest but we will appeal to the farmers not to allow certain forces to politicise the issue and do not block the borders so that the general public may not suffer with their protest””-said CAIT National President B. C. Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal today in a joint statement released here at New Delhi.”
“Bhartia & Khandelwal said that due to protest of the farmers inflow of supplies to Delhi from other States is affected to about 30% of the supply in normal days. Due to constant and supportive efforts of the Transporters, about 70% supply is being maintained though the truckers have to take a big another round to come to Delhi.”
“Delhi is the largest distributive centre of the goods in the Country and since Delhi is neither an Industrial State nor an Agricultural State, Delhi is dependent upon inflow of supplies from different States and beside meeting the consumption of Delhi, large number of supply of goods is made to different States across the Country on daily basis and therefore, the logistics plays an important role in the supply Chain. Currently several borders in Delhi have been either sealed or facing some sort of jam and choking of traffic obstructing smooth flow of transportation of goods. However, the truckers are somehow managing to enter in Delhi and both inflow and outflow of goods is being conducted with better coordination between both CAIT & AITWA. Both CAIT & AITWA said that they are keeping close eye on movement of goods in and out from Delhi and will leave no stone unturned in ensuring smooth supplies of goods.”
