UP Muscles Up to Display Grand Prayagraj-Kumbh Mela 2019

Over 12 crore pilgrims are expected to visit the Prayagraj-KumbhMela 2019 that starts January 15 in Uttar Pradesh, with 3 crore devotees expected to specifically converge on Mauni Amavasya besides the daily flow of 20 lakhs pilgrims. Around 10 lakh foreign tourists are also expected to visit the annual pilgrimage centre.

UP’s Urban Development Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna announced these details at a media interaction in Mumbai on Thursday.  “This event is organised across four regions of the country with Prayagraj (earlier called Allahabad) designated by UNESCO among the list of ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity,” Khanna said.

 

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has announced its joint efforts for the event build up with the UP state. Sunil Khanna Past Chairman of CII, Maharashtra State Council & President & Managing Director of Vertiv, said “The event showcases Indian traditions and historical and mythological history.”

 

Suresh Kumar Khanna, Minister of Urban Development, Parliamentary Affairs in the UP state met Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis and handed over an invitation on behalf of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath. An invitation and logo of the event was also handed over Maharashtra governor C Vidyasagar Rao.

 

An unprecedented increase in the number of flight services for the pilgrimage season has been announced by the Government of India along with the construction of a new air civil terminal in Prayagraj. A heliport is also being set up here and arrangements are being made to provide the facility of helicopter joy ride to tourists.

 

The state government has developed modern and easily available facilities as per convenience of visitors and tourists visiting the Kumbh with a high quality tent city being developed in the KumbhMela region itself.

 

Representation of every cultural discipline of India will be on display at the Kumbh with arrangements made for 30 thematic gates, over 200 cultural programmes of high quality, laser show on cultural topics, food courts, vending zones, exhibitions and tourist walk. Facade lighting is also being done at prominent places. To showcase Indian culture, ‘Kala Gram’ and ‘Sanskriti Gram’ are being set up.
